I saw this one about the Datsun with the electric engine outrunning the Corvette because of its enormous torque.

"Very little oil is used to produce electricity in the US"

Last I saw oil produced about 1% of electrical power.
The funny thing is that is a lot more than solar produces." enough electricity to last for awhile in a car (without having to recharge the car every day or every two days)".

If you have an electric car you will want to charge the battery every chance you get, so once or twice a day. Deep cycling the battery will kill it.

"Plus, States will not get gasoline tax for roads and sales tax. So, your electric bill will eventually increase so States can get there road tax"!

The government cant raise up electric power rates just because of electric vehicles, but they will do what virginia has done. They will slap a registration fee or tax on electric vehicles much higher than there gasoline counter parts.

It is correct that electric cars do not save fossil fuels, since oil is used to manufacture electricity for your home, etc. I don't know if they will ever come up with a highly efficient (small) battery, so that there will be enough electricity to last for awhile in a car (without having to recharge the car every day or every two days).

I don't think anyone will argue that electric motors can be powerful, what they need to be looking for is an efficient means of storing the power for use in these vehicles. A ton of batteries that you have to replace every four years or so ain't it ...

"69 batteries in the trunk and back seat? not quite ready for public use..people with kids or buying groceries.."

I don't thin ANY dragster, ICE or electric, would be of use to people with kids or buying groceries. Do you gougedQC?

"It's cool that people are playing with this. Maybe there'll be a Mustang or Corvette for people that just have to have fast cars."

How about the DeLorean electric car?

I have been thinking of converting my S10 to an electric motor, from what I hear they can usually get about 90 miles to a charge, which is more than I would need.

I have seen this article and it shows just how much torque that the electric vehicle has.
